The Londoner Hotel Review: A Chic, Central London Stay That Delivers on Style and Substance
Author: Lea Murphy.
A Bit of Context
As a luxury travel advisor with E. Clarke Travel, we’re sometimes asked to anonymously stay at hotels and provide honest feedback. I was so excited to choose The Londoner Hotel, since I was already planning a mother-daughter trip to London and this hotel immediately stood out to me for its amazing location. That said, I came into the stay with a fairly critical eye so I could provide the most useful feedback possible, and yet I still walked away super impressed.
The First Impression: Scent, Style, and Atmosphere
Lobby Seating Area
Let’s talk about scent. More and more hotels have a signature scent these days, and I’m 100% here for it. At The Londoner, it was Tea Tonique by Miller Harris, and it hit me the second I walked in — not in an overwhelming way, just clean and calming and fresh. I noticed it again in the shampoo and conditioner in the bathrooms, which I loved. It’s small things like that that make the whole experience feel curated.
The hotel itself is modern and design-forward without trying too hard. Dark woods, cool textiles, moody lighting, which was very London in the best way. The overall vibe leans young and artsy, but not in a way that excludes anyone. You’d feel just as comfortable here on a romantic weekend as you would on a solo work trip or a family vacation. I was here with my mom on a mother-daughter trip, and she absolutely loved it!

The Rooms
Interior Hallway
While the public spaces have a buzzy energy, the room was silent. We were on the second floor in a City View room, and I couldn’t hear a thing from outside or the hallway. For a city hotel, that’s a huge win.
When we walked in, there was a retro clock radio softly playing jazz, which is such a cute, unexpected touch that immediately made me feel like I was in a big-city hotel from a movie.
The room was smartly laid out with plenty of storage, and — this is key — actual outlets where you need them. Outlets on both sides of the bed, outlets by the mirrors (which made doing my hair so much easier), and none of those weirdly hidden ones behind a chair. Hotels: please take notes.
CIty View Queen Bedroom
The bed and linens were super comfortable. And on the topic of comfort, I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention the toilet (yes, that’s right). It was one of those Japanese-style ones with a heated seat and built-in bidet, and honestly, it just made the experience feel extra luxurious. It’s the small things that make you happy…
Other thoughtful in-room details:
- A proper umbrella (vital in London)
- A super soft robe — perfect for a post-shower bed rot moment
- A minibar stocked with a full-sized bottle of Grey Goose, martini glasses, and a Nespresso machine (In-room espresso martini? Yes, please.)

The Location
Marked Location on London Map
You truly can’t beat the location. The hotel sits right on Leicester Square, which puts you in the middle of everything. Covent Garden is a short walk away, and you’re right on the Piccadilly line, which makes getting around the city super easy.
If you’re visiting London for the first time or want a hotel that’s as central as it gets, this is it. And if you’re seeing a West End show, you can basically walk there in under ten minutes.

The Bar & Nightlife
In keeping with the hotel’s chic energy, the bars at The Londoner are amazing. My personal favorite was The Residence, which is the bar exclusively for hotel guests. My mom and I had margaritas and gin martinis there, both delicious, and the atmosphere was the perfect mix of artsy and cozy. It’s the kind of spot where you could easily hang out for hours.

The Service
Service throughout the hotel was great. Since E. Clarke Travel is a Signature Travel Agency, our clients receive added perks. In our case, that meant a lovely welcome gift waiting in the room with three chocolate boxes and a note. Those small touches go a long way in making you feel special.
The concierge team was especially fantastic. I probably asked for directions 50 separate times during our short stay, and they were helpful and kind every single time. Yes, even the fiftieth.
Final Thoughts
The London Bridge
The Londoner really brings it all together — thoughtful design, quiet rooms, amazing location, great service, and a fun, lively energy. From the scent in the lobby to the martini glasses in your room, everything is intentional and well-executed.
It was the perfect place for a mother-daughter trip, and I’d absolutely recommend it to my clients, especially those looking for a stylish stay in the heart of the city.
